A 2-1 victory for the Trojans at Nostell Miners Welfare sees Brett Marshall’s men seventh in the table with a healthy number of games on those teams around them.

A Kieran Watson penalty and a second from Daniel Fletcher inside seven first half minutes provided the platform for Staveley to go on and take all three points.

It was a nervy final few minutes for the visitors, however, with Andrew Davis halving the deficit late on for Nostell to set up a grandstand finish in Wakefield.

The Trojans were at home to high-flying Tadcaster Albion on Wednesday (February 24). Tadcaster maintained their 100 per cent start to 2016 with a win at Rainworth Miners Welfare.

A double from Josh Greening and another from Adam Barker set Tadcaster on their way to a 3-1 win at their Nottinghamshire hosts and moved them back to the top.

Tadcaster are two points clear with four games in hand of Bridlington Town who are up to second after their 7-1 home win over Brigg Town despite conceding first to a ninth-minute opener from Luke Anderson.

From that point on, the Seasiders took control, leading 5-1 at half-time with two each for Chris Adams and Joel Sutton adding to their equaliser from Will Waudby whilst a Scott Mathews own goal and a seventh from Jamie Reeson completed the scoring in the second period.

Worksop Town, who began the day at the top of the table, drop to third with a 3-2 loss at Maltby Main, the Tigers being the only top-half side to lose.

They took the lead through Alex Nightingale but three goals in the last quarter-of-an-hour in the first half from Nicky Darker, Joshua Nodder and Lee Hill put the hosts in control and Worksop could only muster a late consolation in the second period from Kyle Jordan. Fourth and fifth placed Handsworth Parramore and Cleethorpes Town both drew 3-3 at home, Handsworth requiring an injury-time equaliser from Richard Adams to snatch a point against Thackley whilst Cleethorpes let a three goal first half lead slip as Clipstone produced a great fightback.

Albion Sports won 1-0 at home to Garforth Town.

Joe Thornton’s seven minute first half hat-trick for Athersley Recreation put his side in control at Retford United but the match would eventually finish 3-3.
