Newton George and Dragon leapfrog Doe Lea in Chesterfield Sunday League after victory

Newton George and Dragon replaced opponents Doe Lea in second place in HKL ONE of the Chesterfield Sunday League after they beat them 5-3.

Lee Clay, Tom McTighe and Cory Burton hit the target for Doe Lea in the eight goal thriller, however a hat trick from Ryan Hadley plus goals from Adam Puttock and Lewis Macaskill sealed the win for Dragon.

Clowne Wanderers and Hasland Working Men’s Club had to settle for a point each as goals from Sam Gray and Regan Edridge for Wanderers were equalled by Steve Mansel and Luke Beatson’s goals for Hasland.

Curtis Birchall, Elliott Nunn, Reece Shaw and Danny Rigby were all on target as New Whitt Social came out on top at hosts Cutthorpe CC for whom Declan Brewin and Dan Chapman scored.

HKL TWO leaders Midland were held to a goalless draw by opponents Brampton Moor Rovers which presented Crown Killamarsh with an opportunity to move level on points with them with a victory at Brampton Victoria which they duly achieved thanks to goals from Ashton Hotchin and Gavin Page.

Just one game was played in HKL THREE and AFC Newbold won it, beating Bridge Inn 5-3 extending their lead at the top of the table to four points.

In HKL FOUR Dronfield Town’s Kane Snell scored a hat trick and Josh Devereux two in their sides 5-2 win at Barlow Kingston Rovers for whom Ash Hollis and Ed Biggin scored.

Two Josh Scully goals plus one apiece from Jake Ward and Sam Ward set Arkwright Town on the road to a 4-2 victory over Tibshelf Community, Dronfield Wanderers winning by the same score at Clay Cross United whilst Butchers Arms won 2-1 at Mutton.

If it was a goal fest you were wanting to see the HKL FIVE game between Tiki and Hasland Community was the place to see with thirteen goals being scored, nine of them by winner Hasland.

Liam Whiting was the games top scorer, scoring five for Hasland along with Aaron Walker who scored three and Shane McCarthy one.
