Oldham lost 3-2 at home to Rochdale, while Walsall beat bottom side Colchester 2-1.
At the other end of the table, leaders Burton thumped Port Vale 4-0 away from home.
Wigan were 1-0 victors over Bradford, the Bantams slipping out of the play-off positions, replaced by Barnsley.
