The game’s only goal came on 35 minutes when Donovan Wilson fired past Grant Smith.
It was a match of few clear-cut chances and Town could not break down a disciplined Sutton defence.
The visitors have only lost four all season and you could see why with their excellent organisation.
Here are Liam Norcliffe’s player ratings from the game...
1. Grant Smith 7
Made a good save to deny Donovan Wilson at 0-0. Had no chance with Wilson's winner. Photo: Dean Atkins
2. George Carline 7
Carline was shifted in one to right centre-back after Kerr's injury and he adapted well. He did not look out of place. Great bit of defensive play to outmuscle Wilson who was in on goal in the second half. Photo: Dean Atkins
3. Fraser Kerr N/A
Forced off injured after 20 minutes with a knee injury and it does not sound like good news. Photo: Tina Jenner
4. Gavin Gunning 6
Gunning had to be subbed off with 20 minutes to go with a hamstring problem and James Rowe said it was a 'bad' one. Looked to have been fouled in the build-up to Sutton's goal, causing the ball to skim off his head into the path of Wilson. Had a header go over the bar from a corner in the first half.
