Dronfield Wanderers earn first Chesterfield Sunday League points of the season.

They wrapped up a 4-2 victory at Furnace Hill against a still pointless Clay Cross United.

The visitors got off to a great start when Nick Jones found himself in a good position on the right-hand side of the box to fire home the opening goal.

Shortly afterwards they had strong claims for a penalty but referee Mike Douglass waved away their appeal.

Clay Cross drew level just over half way through the first period after Mason Hamlin had seen his 20-yard effort excellently turned round by the visiting keeper, but from the resultant corner Adam Pearson headed home.

All was looking good for United on 27 minutes when they gained the advantage a pin point cross from Matt Walsh found Jordan Hamlin at the back post who made no mistake with his header.

Dronfield went into the break on equal terms thanks to another accurate cross delivered this time by Jamie Lawson which was sweetly struck home by Ken Cameron at the far post .

It didn't take long for the visitors to re assert their early lead within ten minutes of the re-start all three Cameron brothers appeared in the goal build-up from Jamie and Ken setting up Dave for the simplest of finishes in the middle of the goal.

Dronfield did have to be alert as Pearson and then Walsh went close for Clay Cross but they were not to be denied the help of a fourth goal that made the closing stages more comfortable when Lawson worked his way through to slot past the out coming United keeper.

With Dronfield moving to third bottom place it is Clay Cross United who now sit at the foot of the table in need of points.
