Cup-final heartbreak for Matlock
Last-gasp Ilkeston came from behind at the death to win the final of the Derbyshire Senior Cup in dramatic style against Matlock Town on Tuesday night.
Matlock took the lead when a Lewis McMahon strike netted on 68 minutes at Chesterfield’s Proact Stadium.
But Ilkeston fought back as James Reid unleashed a thunderbolt from 35 yards on 89 minutes for the equaliser.
Then, deep into injury time, the Robins were awarded a controversial penalty and Reid stepped up to smash it home and break the hearts of Matlock’s fans.
