Whatstandwell: Proposal for woodland lodges
Peter Edgar, director of East Midlands Land and Property Ltd, said the area his company has proposed for the development - in Longway Bank Wood, Whatstandwell - was originally used for planting conifers for commercial use, meaning they could be felled at any time.
“There is going to be more of an adverse affect if you fell the land than build holiday lodges on it,” he said.

“What we’re trying to achieve is a development that is sympathetic and over a period of time we would carry out replanting and create glades,” Peter continued.
The application (reference 14/00894/FUL) also seeks permission for a bistro lodge and reception lodge. In case it is refused, the company has submitted an outline planning application for five detached homes on the site (reference 14/00898/OUT).
