'Major incident' declared in Derbyshire as areas flood

Flood warnings are in place for Bakewell, Darley Dale, Ashford in the Water and Litton Mill, meaning that the river Wye is expected to burst its banks at these locations and ‘immediate action is required’.
An amber weather warning for Derbyshire has been in place throughout the day as the heavy rain batters the county and disrupts infrastructure.

Hide AdBarry Lewis, leader of Derbyshire County Council, announced: “Due to the flooding and its widespread and impactful nature a major incident for Derbyshire has been declared.
"Multi Agency operation - not made easier because of C19. My thanks to all dedicated staff and workers across all services involved. Stay safe and heed warnings.”
Amber weather warnings and flood alerts are also in place in nearby South Yorkshire, where flooding has been reported in Sheffield and Rotherham.
