The Belper Games took place on Saturday at Belper Rugby Club, with contestants tackling a professionally-run It’s A Knockout-style course.

Cheering them on were hundreds of spectators, who were also treated to a street-style market, live music, a beer festival, fairground attractions and games.

All proceeds from the event, held in memory of Penny Wheeler, are donated to The Scleroderma Society, Ataxia UK and The Pulmonary Fibrosis Trust.

The Belper Games originally started out as a small, fun way to raise the funds desperately needed for medication that was unavailable to Penny, a Scleroderma and Pulmonary Fibrosis patient. Penny lost her battle with the illness in December 2012, but it was with her blessing that the event has continued.
