PICTURES: Thousands turn out despite the rain for Bakewell Carnival
The marching band got toes tapping, The Billerettes got everyone smiling and the floats were full of cowboys, rednecks and superheroes.
A carnival organiser said: “That’s another great carnival over with, thank you all again for either helping to make this carnival a success or just for coming watching and we hope to see you all next year.”

Hide AdSpectator Jackie Gladwin said: “We had a fab day, as per usual.”
Her sentiments were echoed by Charlotte Smith, who said: “It takes more than the rain to dampen the spirits of Bakewell Carnival.” Rain did impact on some of the weekend’s events and the children’s sport day event on the Friday was cancelled and the classic cars were not on show in the park but at the Agricultural Business Centre.
Sarah White said: “I had a lovely day watching the procession.”
Thousands of people saw the parade and the special guest appearances from The Simpsons on one float and youngsters dressed up as characters from Harry Potter on another.

Hide AdJames Button, from Bakewell Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, thanked the volunteers who made the event so special - he said: “Thanks to everyone for all their hard work - as always it was worth it. A great time was had by everyone.”
All money raised on the day from the collection tins and programmes will be split between local charities, as of yet there is not a final total.
