Adrian Dunbar, who hosted the comedy quiz show, asked what the shop had to do when it reopened following the easing of lockdown restrictions on Monday.

Team captain Paul Merton responded: “Did they have to employ a hairdresser for every single hair that was been cut?”

Line of Duty star Mr Dunbar then told millions of viewers: “No, they had to put up nightclub-style barriers outside to control the crowds of men desperate for a haircut.”

He went on to quip: “Boris Johnson apparently was amongst those saying he needed his haircut badly – and this week saw his wish come true.” Viewers were then shown a picture of the Prime Minister with his hair still looking rather dishevelled…

Magnolia Barbering – which is located at the Market Hall – posted the segment on its Facebook page, commenting: “Well! Don’t know what to say?!”
