The Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2021 was unveiled at a special online launch event on Monday, January 25.

The 2021 guide includes seven three star restaurants, including two new, 20 two star restaurants, including three new, 158 one star restaurants, including 17 new, 126 Bib Gourmand restaurants, including 16 new, a new sustainability distinction was launched, The Michelin Green Star, with 23 green stars awarded and there were four special awards presented, Young Chef, Chef Mentor, Service and Welcome and Sommelier.

Stones, in Dale Road, Matlock.

Michelin said: “Negotiate the steep steps down to this small riverside restaurant and head for the front room with its floor to ceiling windows or the delightful rear terrace which offers wonderful views.

"Unfussy, modern British dishes are attractively presented and display the odd Mediterranean touch."

Devonshire Arms in Devonshire Square, Beeley

Michelin said: “This stone inn boasts a hugely characterful low-beamed bar and a modern glass extension with views of the stream.

"A few pub favourites sit alongside some more interesting dishes and estate produce is used to the full. Choose a cosy bedroom in the inn or a modern room in the old dovecote or nearby cottages.”

Michelin said: “Sit below oil paintings that give this elegant hotel restaurant its name and take in views over the grounds. Attractively presented modern dishes are creative yet restrained and show good balance, and many of the ingredients come from the estate farm. Service is efficient and attentive.”

Michelin said: “A fine Edwardian manor house with a classic country house feel and impressive formal grounds plays host to two dining rooms with lovely ornate ceilings.

“Menus offer a mix of classic and more original modern dishes; sit at the ‘Kitchen Tasting Bench’ to be part of the action. Bedrooms are charming."

Michelin said: “The chatty, informative team are sure to put a smile on your face when they enthusiastically explain the modern menu of top quality, seasonal ingredients. The building was once a stable block and the lovely wood-panelled walls of this cosy, laid-back room are now a listed feature.”

Samuel Fox Country Inn in Stretfield Road, Bradwell.

Michelin said: “An attractive, light-stone pub with smart, cosy bedrooms and a dramatic, hilly backdrop: named after the inventor of the steel-ribbed umbrella, who was born in the village.

"Flavourful classic dishes have modern touches and make good use of seasonal local produce. Popular seven course tasting menu.”
