Nigel Walton, from Hasland Wanderers FC, said: “On behalf of all the team, we are absolutely delighted to receive this donation from Persimmon Homes.

“We are a self-funded adult team and support like this is hard to come by.

“Persimmon Homes’ support will enable us to cover pitch hire costs and league fees for the season. It’s a huge boost to the team.”

Neil Follows, managing director for Persimmon Homes Nottingham, said: “We are actively building in the Hasland area so are delighted to support Hasland Wanderers FC. We wish the team great success for the season.”

Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme is open for nominations– but this time, and for the foreseeable future, it will exclusively support groups which help people aged over 70.

The housebuilder made the decision to throw its support behind groups which benefit older people in light of the Covid-19 crisis.

Neil continued: “We encourage any good causes from across Nottingham to apply for next month’s donation by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.”
