Heartbeat actor and former Chesterfield MP hopeful dies 89
Heartbeat actor Bill Maynard has died at the age of 89.
The actor, best known for playing Claude Jeremiah Greengrass in Heartbeat, died in hospital in Leciester shortly after falling from his mobility scooter.
Maynard has a career that spanned across eight decades and, outside of acting, he once stood as an Independent against Tony Benn in the Chesterfield 1984 by-election.
He leaves a daughter and son, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
