GRASSROOTS: Very good run at Bakewell Market

It looks as though summer is finally over after what has been a very good run.

High winds and torrential rain prevailed, but failed to deter entries of 798 cattle and 2,052 sheep.

Sheep numbers substantially were less than last week as a consequence of the Muslim festival.

The cattle numbers were boosted by an outstanding entry of 495 store and breeding cattle, which sold on a tremendous trade with steers to £1,260, heifers to £1,145 and cow and calf outfits £1,760.
