Officers from Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit said the Ford Mondeo ‘attracted attention’ after it was being driven at 50 mph despite being in the third lane of the M1.

Shortly afterwards, police found the motorist who they branded a ‘lane hog’ had no insurance.

The vehicle has also been seized.

Officers shared the incident along with a picture of the Ford Mondeo stopped on the M1 on social media, prompting one user to comment: “It's almost as if they're asking to be stopped.”

While another person who focused on the ‘caution’ sticker above the car’s number plate, added: “What does it say on the caution sticker? This vehicle is not insured.”

And a third person humorously joked: “The only tool in this vehicle is the driver”.
