Police in Chesterfield step up patrols following vehicle break ins

Officers in Chesterfield have increased patrols in areas of the town following a series of vehicle break ins.

It comes after the force said they had received ‘a lot of reports’ regarding vehicles being broken into and items being taken in the Newbold area.

Police from Newbold Safer Neighbourhood Team are now actively patrolling areas of the village, particularly later in the evenings in an attempt to deter further crime.

Drivers are also encouraged to make sure their valuable items are taken out of their vehicle or locked out of sight to prevent further break ins.

Anyone who has information about the thefts should contact Derbyshire Constabulary by calling 101, completing an online report on their website, or messaging the force on Facebook or Twitter.
