Man pleads guilty after van crashes into people queuing outside Derbyshire food bank

A man – who was behind the wheel of a van which crashed into a number of people queuing outside a Derbyshire food bank – has pleaded guilty to the crime.

Martin Casey was driving a Ford van which collided with several people outside the Kirk Hallam Community Hall in Kenilworth Drive on July 5, 2019.

Casey, 38, of College Street, Long Eaton, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday when he pleaded guilty to two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He also pleaded guilty to one count of dangerous driving following a collision between the same van and the community centre on June 26, 2019.

According to Derbyshire Constabulary, Casey – who had been remanded in prison since his arrest last year – was remanded once more to jail ahead of his sentencing at the same court on Monday.
