Derbyshire police found a drugs stash hidden inside a washing machine when they raided a home.

Officers from the Derwent and Oakwood Safer Neighbourhood Team completed a drug search warrant at an address on Radnor Street, Derby, yesterday, Tuesday, June 2.

Mobile phones and numerous bags of what is believed to be cannabis were recovered – including three that were hidden in the washing machine.

Two people, a man and a woman, both aged 34 years, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug with intent to supply.

Sergeant Rachel Fowkes, who is in charge of the team, said: “The action, which included officers from our Uniformed Task Force and Dog Section, was taken due to us receiving community intelligence about suspicious activity at the address.

“It shows that we will take action when we receive such information as this activity is often related to other illegal activity and anti-social behaviour.”
