Crack and heroin seized in Wirksworth

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences after police searched separate properties in Wirksworth.

Officers visited a house in Bournebrook Avenue, Wirksworth and found a quantity of suspected cannabis, crack cocaine and heroin inside.

A 32-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply during the search, which took place at about 6.30pm on Monday, August 26.

He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police discovered a large amount of suspected cannabis at a house in Snowfield View on Friday, August 23.

Officers attended the address after reports that a man had been involved in an alleged assault in Ecclesbourne Close, Wirksworth.

A 26-year-old man from Wirksworth was arrested on suspicion possessing a class B drug with intent to supply and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Adam Bryan, who leads Wirksworth Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We rely on information from members of the community about suspected criminal activity in their area.
