Chesterfield Borough Council has invested more than £48,000 in the equipment at Kirkstone Road Park, Dunston.

The majority of this came from the housing service’s estate improvement budget with £10,000 the council has received in section 106 money from a development in Newbold.

Councillor Jim McManus, Chesterfield Borough Council’s executive member for housing, said: “We consult regularly with tenants and residents about improvements they would like to see in their area.

“They said the old play equipment in the park was old and not fit for purpose, we listened and worked with them to find out what sort of new play equipment they wanted to see in the park.”

The new equipment at the park includes: tornado overhead carousel, swings, dish spinner, play trail, dish spinner and see-saw.

Youngsters in the area were able to try out the equipment at an open day this week attended by Chesterfield’s mayor, Councillor Alexis Diouf and mayoress, Vickey-Anne Diouf.
