I am Cathie Mitchell and I'm the head of operations at NLT Training Services, based in Chesterfield.

I currently live with my partner, Jon, and my two children, Daniel and Hannah.

I have worked in Chesterfield for the past 14 months and have fallen in love with the town,

I had visited before I started to work here and have always seen it as a lovely place with a friendly atmosphere.

NLT has been based in Chesterfield for more than 40 years. We primarily offer training for engineering courses at level two, three and four including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, welding and fabrication plus many more.

We also offer training for non-engineering courses such as business administration, customer service, warehousing and manufacturing at levels two and three.

The apprentices are at their place of work four days a week and come to NLT on day-release, it is here where they learn new skills to apply to their day-to- day work.

I think that Chesterfield Waterside is certainly something to look forward to. It’s going to revitalise the town in providing new homes, shops and restaurants and bring in more residents and businesses to Chesterfield.

2. How would you describe Chesterfield to someone who has never visited?

Chesterfield is a quaint town with a lovely town centre. It has a real mixture of unique independent shops and big high street names surrounding the iconic market. There is also some incredible architecture in the area along with the Crooked Spire, making it a town centre like no other.

As soon as I need business advice, I turn to my peers as I know they can help me with almost any query I have. However, Destination Chesterfield gives us a lot of information about the town as well as networking opportunities.

5. Who do you admire in the community?

I admire the local schools in our community as they do a great job of preparing the engineers of the future for their next steps of learning.

6. Where is your favourite place to shop locally and why?

Riverside retail park is a great place to shop in Chesterfield with excellent parking facilities.

7. What do you believe Chesterfield needs but doesn’t yet have?

I would love to see the last eight miles of the Chesterfield canal open to the public so we can all enjoy the final part of a beautiful walk.
