More than a dozen floral displays depicted the various cultures, traditions and features which are part of our country’s heritage.

Arrangements ranged from an English country garden and Guy Fawkes Night to a maypole, pageantry and pantomime – not forgetting the English weather!

Football, cricket, the English “cuppa” and children’s writer Beatrix Potter were also included.

The displays were the work of church members and friends, with a centenary display by Alfreton Women’s Institute, which meets at the church.

The two-day festival attracted lots of visitors, and traditional English teas proved popular.

Sunday services were conducted by Mrs Jenny Kilgour of Derby and Mrs Gill Irish of Swanwick.
