But one thing Nadiya hasn’t sampled is eating Bakewell pudding in its spiritual home - and she’s relishing the chance to do so.

The Bake Off star will showcase her skills at Bakewell Baking Festival this weekend, joining a stellar line-up which includes Edd Kimber, the first winner of the TV challenge, and Howard Middleton, who reached the final.

Nadiya said: “I am delighted to have been asked to appear at the Bakewell Baking Festival. It will be my first ever visit to Bakewell and I am really looking forward to meeting everyone at the festival, sharing some of my recipes and sampling the legendary Bakewell pudding.”

This year Nadiya had the honour of baking a cake for the Queen’s 90th birthday. She said: “It was an amazing opportunity. I didn’t have a brief apart from not making a fruit cake so I opted for an orange drizzle. “

At the festival, Nadiya will judge the creations of schoolchildren who entered a Design a Cake for the Queen competition. She said: “I can’t wait to see what the children have made and am looking forward to meeting them too.”

Nadiya’s bakery demonstrations on Saturday will capture the flavour of the festival, which is being held at Bakewell Showground. She said: “I’ll be making my Cherry Bakewell Macaroons and Za’atar and Lemon Palmiers from my new book, Nadiya’s Kitchen.”

Edd Kimber said: “I’m very excited to be coming back to Bakewell for the third year of the baking festival. It’s such a fun weekend that just keeps getting better, I can’t wait to be back baking on stage, a nice change from when we filmed Bake Off there all those years ago!”

During Saturday and Sunday, visitors can get hands-on with activities which include gingerbread decorating, a cake decorating competition, vintage games and the Mr Darcy Custard Pie Fight.

There will be a comedy night on Saturday.
