The luxurious five-bedroom house, on Ashfurlong Road in Dore, is set in its own grounds and has a distinctive exotic design reminiscent of holiday homes on the continent.
Purplebricks, the estate agent handling the sale, said the villa incorporates ‘various elements of Mediterranean architecture to the exterior’ alongside its high-specification interior.

Writing on The Star’s Facebook page, Molly Scott recalled that the house was built in the mid-1970s before a couple bought it and gave it a humorous name.
“My aunt had a wicked sense of humour and called it ‘Costa Bomb’,” wrote Jeremy Holehouse.

Hide Ad“I think the house has been sold two or three times since my aunt and uncle sold it in 1992.”
Michele Hatton said: “They took the sign down when they moved.”
Jo Howland said: “I lived not far away as a child and used to walk past and chuckle at the name.”
Michael Pearson remembered delivering milk to the house just after it was built. “Loved the name,” he said.

Hide AdKathryn Overton commented: “This was the home of my best friend in the late 70s, early 80s. I’ve spent many a happy hour and a lot of my childhood there.”
Alison White remembered being allowed to play in the pool when her stepfather carried out work on the property. “I thought the house was like a film set when I was little,” she said.
Craig Welsh called the villa an ‘amazing house’. “I did all the Venetian plaster on it over the last two years,” he wrote.
Meanwhile Saleem Qureshi observed that it was a ‘nice house’, but joked accurately: “The only thing not guaranteed is the sun.”
