Three more people die in Derbyshire as UK announces another 873 coronavirus victims

Three more people who were being treated at Chesterfield Royal Hospital have died after testing positive for coronavirus, latest NHS figures have confirmed.

This brings the total number of deaths up to 67, while the number of confirmed cases across Derbyshire is 931.

Across England a further 778 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 15,607.

In the UK the number of deaths stands at 16,509 as of today (April 21).

The death toll for England and the UK is expected to be much higher than official figures as deaths in care homes and elsewhere in the community are not included in the daily updates.

Globally, there have been almost two and a half million confirmed cases of coronavirus.

171,249 people have died, and 658,009 have recovered.
