A total of 1,566 people who were on a ward with a positive diagnosis have been discharged from the Calow hospital since March 23, 2020.
The Royal’s chief executive, Angie Smithson, said it was important to pay tribute to the efforts of hard working teams across the hospital.

"It’s pleasing to highlight the incredible work everyone has put in across the trust in the number of patients who have been safely discharged from hospital having been treated for Covid-19, particularly as we continue to see numbers fall in the hospital and across the country.
“As we begin the road to exiting lockdown and continue to see fewer patients with a positive diagnosis, we are reflecting on an incredibly challenging year across the NHS and there is still much work to be done.
"It’s up to all of us to continue to follow all current Government guidelines to ensure that all of that hard work put in by my colleagues across all our services, and by everyone who has supported and helped to protect them, results in the future that we all hope for.”

At 10am on Monday, March 15, staff at the Royal were looking after 17 patients with Covid-19 – five of whom were described as being in a critical condition.
Chesterfield Royal Hospital spokesperson Simon Towers said earlier this week: “The number of positive cases of Covid-19 has continued to fall at the trust which is a very pleasing trend and reflects the national picture.
“However, we are still at the start of national efforts to gradually exit lockdown and we still have a number of people in our care who are critically ill with Covid-19.”
