Coronavirus: No new Chesterfield deaths in lowest Friday increase since lockdown began

The coronavirus death toll in Chesterfield has remained static for nearly two weeks, the latest NHS figures show.

So far 131 people who tested positive for the deadly bug have died in the care of the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Across England a further 22 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died over the past day, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,013.

Patients were aged between 52 and 99 years old. All patients had known underlying health conditions and their families have been informed.

It’s the lowest increase on a Friday during lockdown and the lowest Friday overall since nine deaths were announced on March 13- almost two weeks before lockdown began.

The figures were provided by Public Health England as part of its daily breakdown.

They could be higher as they do not include deaths that happened within care homes or within the community.
