Clowne residents, Elisa Murcott and her fiance Rob set up R&E Glam Camp in June 2020 to give young people, families and couples the chance to hire decorated bell tents and enjoy outdoor cinemas from the comfort of their own garden while the country remained in lockdown.

Since then, the engaged couple have had nearly 500 bookings from customers asking them to set up the beautiful pop up tents to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and holidays while people are prevented from mixing with other households in their gardens.

The tent hire business has fulfilled requests for TikTok and Disney princess themed set-ups, special Halloween decorations and even for a baby Yoda style party.

Elisa and Rob, who set up the tents in gardens by themselves with Covid-19 safe equipment, recently started providing see-through tents for customers to rent to enable them to sleep outside.

The 42-year-old originally came up with the idea for the business after she wanted to make Father’s Day ‘extra special’ for her fiance by setting up a tent in their back garden.

"I thought to myself while I was doing it this would be a really good idea for families who obviously can't really go out and do much at the moment”, Elisa said.

"There were on and off periods where I could do them with the lockdown but I have been allowed to do them because I have no contact, no one is on the garden while I am there and then I leave.

"It started like that and it just went mental, last year in the summer, we worked literally daily setting them up."

The couple have been overwhelmed by the feedback they’ve received from families thanking them for making their celebrations special despite the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

"It just makes you feel like what you are doing is doing good even though it is a job", Elisa added.

"I never thought it was going to do as well as it has done in the short space of time - never in a million years.”
