Spectacular choir concert

Staged at Nottingham’s Albert Hall, the concert billed as Sounds Spectacular was just that, bringing together nine choirs in perfect harmony alongsides the award winning Band of the Royal Marines.

Choir chairman Ian Webster and the 40-strong choir led by musical director Liz Moulder staged a special concert performance at Eastwood’s St.Mary’s Parish Church before handing over the charity cheque to Legion officials.

Legion guests Andy Gregory (chairman of the Nottinghamshire Branch and Community Fundraiser) and Pete Hopkins (vice-chairman) and his wife Elaine who were representing the charity expressed their gratitude.

“This is a phenomenal amount and Eastwood Collieries Male Voice Choir which hosted the prestigious concert should be very proud of its achievements,” said Mr.Gregory.

“The choir’s reputation is second to none and the money they have raised will benefit those who put their lives on the line during their calls of duty as well as helping those killed, wounded or injured by warfare.”

Choir chairman Ian Webster added: “It is a privilege to be able to help such an admirable cause and the choir is proud to know that their efforts will provide huge benefits to those who need help the most.”
