The Theatre Royal Nottingham has announced a star-studded cast for the region’s biggest pantomime, Peter Pan, which runs from Saturday December 7 to Sunday, January 12, 2014.
Leading the cast is international star David Hasselhoff, aka The Hoff, who is best known for his iconic roles as Michael Knight in Knight Rider and Mitch Buchanan in Baywatch. David, who stars as pantomime’s ultimate baddie Captain Hook, says he’s thrilled to be heading to Nottingham.
He said: “I love performing in pantomime. It’s a fabulous British tradition and a great excuse to get the whole family together and enjoy a wonderful and entertaining time at the theatre. I can’t wait to spend Christmas with the people of Nottingham but watch out - Hoff the Hook is coming to get you. You’re gonna love me....oh yes, you are!”
Joining David on stage in the title role of Peter Pan is children’s television star Barney Harwood. Barney started his career at the age of 17 in the boy band Goal and made the move into presenting two years later on the popular music show Planet Pop. He then joined CBBC as a presenter on Smile and, in 2007, won the Children’s BAFTA for Best TV Presenter. He has since presented a string of successful shows such as Prank Patrol, Bear Behaving Badly, Barney’s Barrier Reef and Basil’s Swap Shop.
Adding a touch of sparkle to the pantomime in the role of the Magical Mermaid is television and stage favourite Su Pollard - best known for playing the loveable Peggy in the 80s sitcom Hi-de-Hi! As an actress, singer, writer and comedienne Nottingham-born Su has enjoyed a career spanning 40 years. Her other notable career highlights have seen her appear in You Rang, M’lord?, Oh, Doctor Beeching! as well as hugely-successful stage productions of Annie, Little Shop of Horrors and Sweet Charity.
Jonathan Kiley, executive producer of Peter Pan said:
“We are thrilled to present a stellar line-up of huge talent for this year’s Theatre Royal Christmas show. The superb cast, combined with top-drawer production values, stunning sets and fabulous costumes makes Peter Pan the region’s unmissable pantomime.
“Peter Pan guarantees a treasure-chest full of comedy, much seasonal silliness, along with stunning flying sequences. You’re guaranteed to be hooked by the swashbuckling pantomime adventure which has enthralled audiences for decades and is the perfect festive treat for all the family” added Jonathan.
Jonathan Saville, director of sales, marketing and development at the Theatre Royal Nottingham, is delighted with this year’s line-up of stars. He said: “Peter Pan will be the biggest and best pantomime in the region this Christmas, and I’m sure that we will see our box office breaking records once again this year.”
