Young talent takes to the stage in comedy

The members of Derby Theatre Youth Theatre will be presenting Ruckus In The Garden as their first ever production next month.

The magical comedy by David Farr can be seen on April 5-6 with performances at 7.30pm on both nights and an extra Saturday matinee from 2.30pm.

Derby Theatre Youth Theatre, led by East Midlands-based Junk Shop Theatre Company, in association with Derby Theatre, was formed towards the end of last year and the group’s first meeting and rehearsal took place in January.

The group consists of 50 young people from all across Derbyshire, between the ages of 11-18, and they meet once a week, on a Sunday, to rehearse. The group works with, and alongside, theatre professionals, both in relation to the production and other theatre-related workshops and activities.

Ruckus in the Garden is a very funny and entertaining look at the trials of being a teenager with a modern nod to A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It’s fast-paced and full of action.

Christina Lydon, Derby Theatre’s learning manager, said: “We have a really talented company of young actors who are working brilliantly together and creating what should be a very funny and entertaining production.

Tickets cost £8 (plus concessions) and are available on 01332 59 39 39.
