Members of Belper Musical Theatre are brushing up their Shakespeare ready for their forthcoming production of Kiss Me, Kate.

The popular Cole Porter musical can be seen at Belper Community Theatre, based at Belper School, from February 10-14.

(10th - 14th February at Belper Community Theatre, Belper School).

This exuberant show within a show throws together gun-toting gangsters, sparring actors and romantic entanglements against the backdrop of a 1948 touring musical production of The Taming of the Shrew.

Shakespeare’s leading man Petruchio ‘tames’ Katherine in ways which can be abhorrent to modern audiences but in Kiss Me, Kate it’s fair to say that Kate gives as good as she gets.

With music and lyrics by Cole Porter, the terrific score is shot through with wit, charm and energy.

Numbers such as Another Op’nin, Another Show, Tom, Dick or Harry, I Hate Men and Brush Up Your Shakespeare performed by this talented local group will ensure a “Wunderbar” evening.

This show is “Too Darn Hot” to miss so make sure you call the box office on 01773 856190 for tickets or book online via
