Early spot of bother for young Winston

Winston On The Run is a show that is to be presented by Fol Espoir Theatre at Florence Nightingale Memorial Hall, Holloway, on Saturday, October 12.

The new Live & Local season in Holloway kicks off with this one-man play about the little known early life of one of the icons of the 20th century. It is 1899 and escaped prisoner-of-war Winston Churchill is in a fiendish spot of bother: lost in the African savannah, wanted ‘Dead or Alive’ and hounded by the scathing words of his dead father. Will he surrender, or fight on – whatever the cost? Experience the coming-of-age of Britain’s greatest hero in this gripping true story of adventure, audacity and imperial folly.

The play is followed by a presentation and Q and A session from the writer/performer Freddie Machin on the letters, photographs and archive material that inspired the show’s creation. The show starts at 7.30pm and doors open at 7pm. Tickets and information are available from Dave on 01773 856545.

The Live & Local season in Holloway and Crich continues with Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies performing These Coal Town Days on November 17, and Hot Fingers at The Glebe Field Centre, Crich, on December 8.
