Local musical theatre group Present Company will be presenting Aspects Of Love, by Andrew Lloyd Webber, at Buxton Opera House, from August 28-30.
The group is delighted to bring this musical, now celebrating its 25th anniversary, to Derbyshire for the first time.
Following on the heels of Lloyd Webber’s Phantom Of The Opera, this show is a joyful, edgy, tumultuous romance extolling youth and love. Set in France, the intricate and thought provoking plot charts the tangled relationships of two Englishmen, Alex and his artist uncle George, with three women: a French actress Rose, an Italian sculptor Giulietta and Rose’s daughter Jenny, a young girl blossoming into womanhood in a hot-house atmosphere of intertwined lives and loves. This sung through, modern opera takes the audience on a roller coaster ride and includes hit songs such as Love Changes Everything.
Artistic director Jean Gemmell said: “I have loved Aspects Of Love ever since I first saw it 25 years ago and I have been trying to get permission to stage it for almost all of those years. Now here it is! The biggest challenge I have ever embraced.”
