The Halle are back at Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall for the final concert in the 2013-2014 Nottingham classics season.
Conducted by Cristian Mandeal, the Manchester-based orchestra - regular and welcome visitors to the area - will be playing a programme packed with six different pieces.
For the season’s grand finale, there is a stunning selection of orchestral showpieces.
Two Impressionist classics by Maurice Ravel will open and close the first half - Alborada Del Gracioso, bursting with orchestral colours, and La Valse, a portrait of a decadent society spinning towards disaster.
Also on the programme will be Ernest Chausson’s beautiful Poeme, Saint-Saens’ s virtuosic Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, featuring solo violinist Valeriy Sokolov, plus Enescu’s colourful Romanian Rhapsody No 1 and Respighi’s exciting Roman Festivals.
Tickets cost £10-£32.50, available on 0115 9895555.
