CONDUCTOR Rory MacDonald and The Halle team up for the final concert of the Nottingham Classics season in a performance at the city’s Royal Concert Hall on Friday, May 27, from 7.30pm.

There’s a magical feel to the programme as it features Sibelius’s symphonic poem Pohjola’s Daughter, about a mischievous spirit, Rimsky-Korsakov’s overture to his colourful opera May Night, plus Stravinsky’s reputation-making score to his fairytale ballet The Firebird.

Not directly inspired by magic, but no less enchanting, is Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody On A Theme Of Paganini, featuring piano soloist Sofya Gulyak.

Tickets to see this concert of four diverse and captivating works are available at a cost of £10-£32 by calling the box office on 0115 9895555.
