NOttinghaM Symphony Orchestra’s 2011-2012 season gets under way on Saturday, November 26, with a concert of all-Russian music featuring the return of popular soloist Alexei Grynyuk.
The programme, to be performed at Nottingham’s Albert Hall, will be conducted by Derek Williams and starts with Capriccio Italien, Tchaikovsky’s colourful evocation of Italian celebrations, followed by Rachmaninov’s much-loved Piano Concerto No 3.
This will feature the talented Alexei Grynyuk, performing the same piece he played with the orchestra three years ago, to great acclaim.
The concert concludes with Shostakovich’s gripping, epic, Tenth Symphony, his portrayal of life under Stalin, written months after the dictator’s death in 1953.
The concert gets under way at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12 (back stalls), £10 (all other seats) (concessions [under 21] £6). They are available from the box office on (0115) 9419419.
