THE SPIRIT of Elvis is making its way to Heanor in autumn for a new show by the town’s operatic society.
And it will come as exciting news to a number of townsfolk, as the British fanclub club of the legendary hitmaker once stood on Heanor’s Market Place.
The show called All Shook Up contains some of Elvis’s most well known songs such as Jailhouse Rock, Blue Suede Shoes and Love me Tender.
Publicity officer for the society, Kim Harris, said: “Full of colour, great songs, dancing and lots of humour, this romantic show based in 1950’s America will prove to be a hit with anyone who has enjoyed the music of Elvis over the past five decades.”
Show organisers are now calling for townsfolk to audition for a part in the cast.
The society is looking for singers, dancers and actors to dust off their brylcream and blue suede shoes and come along to the first rehearsal on Thursday, September 5, at 7.30pm at the Heanor Methodist Church on Market Street in Heanor.
