THE Arkwright Society is presenting a Heritage Festival at Cromford Mills on Saturday and Sunday, September 10 and 11.
Two powerhouses of engineering excellence are working together to provide a weekend of celebrations in part of the East Midlands’ only World Heritage Site.
Cromford Mill, where Richard Arkwright created the template for modern factories across the world, is the venue for the two-day festival, packed with family-friendly activities.
A group of graduates from Rolls-Royce will work with the Arkwright Society in creating the best possible celebration of the region’s heritage.
Sarah McLeod of the Arkwright Society, said: “As part of the Derwent Valley Mills World heritage Site, Cromford Mill has a great atmosphere for celebrating our history. The festival is a fun way of bringing local people and visitors together, and showing them how to enjoy heritage. The Rolls-Royce team have done a first class job in putting together a great programme of events.”
The festival runs from 10am to 4pm both days. It is free and requires no prior booking. For more information call The Arkwright Society on 01629 823256 or visit the website www.arkwrightsociety.org.uk
