AN ILKESTON snapper has won a prestigious fashion photography competition, despite having suffered a potentially career-ending neck injury last year.
Deborah Selwood, based at Gecko Studio Photography in the Ropewalk Industrial Estate, was picked from hundreds of professional photographers around the world to scoop the coveted prize of intensive fashion photography training sessions with famous snapper Mark Cleghorn.
But Deborah, who has already won titles such as Fashion Photographer of the Year 2010 and 2011, almost had her career cut short when she suffered a bad neck injury.
She said: “For much of 2011, I wasn’t sure if I could carry on with my business, so I am absolutely delighted to win this competition.
“I feel very privileged to have the chance of working with Mark Cleghorn and his team at PhotoTraining4U.
“They’re so well-respected within the industry and have such a wealth of knowledge – I know it will be a pleasure to learn from them.”
Deborah’s training is in good hands as Mark’s images have won him four industry Fellowships – the highest accolade in the industry.
