Get on track for festival fun
Indietracks festival returns for its tenth annual offering, featuring a bumper crop of bands and performers.
The popular festival at the Midland Railway, Butterley, near Ripley this year runs from July 29-31 in its regular picturesque location.
Around 50 indiepop bands from across the globe will be playing across four stages at Indietracks: the outdoor stage; the indoor stage, the church and on the steam trains themselves.
The festival will also host a range of art and craft workshops and a selection of discos after the bands finish.
The site houses a whole range of lovingly restored steam diesels and locomotives.
Festival goers are able to have unlimited rides on the steam railway over the weekend and full access to other railway attractions and museums.
This year’s line-up features the likes of The Spook School, Simon Love and The Old Romantics, Nervous Twitch, Saint Etienne, Emma Pollock, The Lovely Eggs, Expert Alterations, Flowers, The Aislers Set, Comet Gain, Darren Hayman and The Secondary Modern, Seazoo and Red Sleeping Beauty.
The first Indietracks was held in 2007, and this year will be the tenth festival.
To celebrate, a number of extra activities are planned including the screening of a half-hour documentary by award-winning film director Jeanie Finlay, who has made a host of critically acclaimed films including Sound It Out, Orion and The Great Hip Hop Hoax.
Indietracks organisers will also be hosting a birthday party disco, playing hits from bands who have played at the festival over the last ten years, as well as some of their favourite songs.
Previous headliners at Indietracks have included Teenage Fanclub, The Go! Team, Camera Obscura, Gruff Rhys, Edwyn Collins, The Hidden Cameras, The Wedding Present, Los Campesinos!, Summer Camp, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart and The Vaselines.
Tickets are available for £79 (weekend) and £41 (day). Weekend tickets for children aged 5-15 are £10, or £6 for a day ticket. Children under five get in free.
