BUXTON Opera House is presenting An Evening with Tony Benn in conversation with Samantha Norman.
The show will be on at the venue on Saturday, October 29, starting at 7.30pm.
Tony Benn comes from a family of MPs – his father and grandfather were both politicians and now his son has followed in their footsteps. After retiring from the House of Commons in May 2001, after 51 years in Parliament, to ‘devote more time to politics’, Tony Benn now holds the record as the longest serving Labour MP in the history of the Labour party.
He became a Minister of Technology in the Wilson and Callaghan governments from 1964 - 79. He became a Secretary of State for both Industry and Energy and was also appointed President of the Council of European Energy Ministers in 1977.
The veteran Laborite will talk about his interesting life in politics and what he thinks about the changes in the Labour party. Expect an evening of frank responses and entertaining political anecdotes in a welcome sequel to Tony’s original legendary theatre tour.
For tickets for Tony Benn are priced at £15 and £17 and discounts are available. Call the Box Office on 0845 127 2190 or buy online at www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
