Butterley United 1sts made a good start to the season at Codnor CC on Saturday.
Despite relegation last season, BUCC 1st XI began their Division 8N campaign in style on Saturday, with victory at local rivals Codnor.
Codnor won the toss and put the BUCC into bat.
Nathan Parkin opened with Charlie Buxton, and Parkin went on to hit 74 before falling to an LBW decision. A number of batsmen contributed, with Buxton (25), Lounds (19), Parkin (25), Brooks (20) and Matt Wright hitting 23 not out, as Butterley set a total 225 all out from 46 overs. Ben Clark was the pick of the Codnor bowlers, with figures of 3-30 from seven overs.
Codnor set about the BUCC bowlers at a reasonable pace, before seemingly setting the target of at least a draw.
Mark Woolley hit 32 before being dismissed, while Ian Lavender had a decent knock of 22. Despite Bradley’s fine effort with 17, it was Callum West who ripped through the batting order with some fine spin bowling. West eventually finished with seven wickets for only 25 runs from 9.2 overs, as Codnor were dispatched for 97 runs.
