Thrilling weekend

LANGLEY Mill CC enter the Bank Holiday weekend with all three teams looking like promotion candidates.

The firsts return to Station Road after an easy victory last weekend.

This time, they welcome strugglers Mickleover. The visitors are threatened with relegation and will need nothing short of a win, but with the Millers in top form, the hosts should record another victory to enhance promotion prospects.

The seconds make the short trip to neighbours Codnor on Sunday knowing they will be in for a tough fight. Codnor beat promotion outsiders Eckington on Saturday before lifting the Wright Cup on Sunday. Confidences will be high in the Codnor camp and they could easily burst the Langley Mill bubble.

On Sunday, the Millers go to Staveley Welfare wanting a win to secure the title.

Having played against Staveley in the Saturday league last week, the Millers will know what to expect but the hosts still have a chance of promotion so they won’t go down without a fight. All games 1.30pm.
