DENBY Cricket Club enjoyed a good day last Saturday with victories achieved by three out of four teams.
The firsts maintained their top-of-the-table spot as they recorded a five-wicket win at fifth-placed Sawley in County League division one.
Sawley & LE Park (3pts) 148 all out [45.2 overs] (Andy Rhodes 47, J Sherriff 5-27, J Greenhalgh 4-20) lost to Denby (22pts) 149-5 [34.3 overs] (C hris Durham 46) by 5 wickets
It was a good day also for Denby seconds who recorded a five-run local derby victory over visitors Ambergate firsts.
Denby 2nds (27pts) 156-8 [46 overs] (M Mitchell 39, W Thomas 6-46) beat Ambergate firsts (7pts) 151 all out [45.5 overs] (W Thomas 63, J Simms 5-52) by five runs.
The only defeat of the day was tasted by the thirds who went down to a four-wicket defeat at Swanwick firsts who whipped Denby out for only 76, Tom Mounsey top scoring with 21.
The fourths recorded an eight-wicket win at Nutbrook thirds thanks to a knock of 52 by Nathan Clarke and an unbeaten 44 by opener Neil Cox.
Dave Cherry finished on 21 not out.
The hosts had been dismissed for 125 thanks to Paul Foulke’s 6-35 off ten overs. The other wicket takers being Gary Foulke 2-35 off 14 and Andy Parkin 2.16 off eight overs.
