Respectable draw for Marehay seconds

Division 4 North

Clowne Town 1st XI 241 all out (19pts) drew with Marehay 2nd XI 168/8 (10pts)

Marehay’s second team travelled to the north of the county to face Clowne Town and fought well to earn a respectable draw against a team that narrowly missed out on promotion last season.

Batting first, the home side scored at a good pace throughout the innings and were all out from the final ball of their 46 overs for 241.

Opening bowlers Chris Bradder and Chris Ford both picked up three wickets but were a little expensive in doing so going for 89 and 67 runs respectively.

In reply, Marehay’s innings never gathered the momentum required to threaten knocking off the Clowne target and were left to pick up as many bonus points as possible.

Bradder continued his fine start to the season, being run out in the last over trying to reach his half century for a well made 49. Luke Mallen took 3/33 for the home side as the points were split 19-10 in the home sides favour.

Marehay 3rd XI v Sawley & long Eaton Park 3rd XI Match Cancelled.

TWENTY-TWO players were left feeling very disappointed as the match at Loscoe’s Charles Hill had to be cancelled due to Council owned facilities being locked!

This even though the wicket had been prepared and the ground was fit for play despite the morning rain, Amber Valley Borough Council will have some questions to answer this week.
