Will Davidson led Derby College A Team to victory for the second week running in the fifth round of the British Schools and Colleges Golf Tour, at Morley Hayes Golf Complex.
Will returned a best of the day score of 75-2-73, one stroke ahead of college teammate Will Painter (Kedleston Park GC) 76-2-74 on an extremely difficult and challenging day which saw scores soaring into the 80s in the 30-mile-an- hour winds.
The average Gross score for the day was 83, which highlighted how difficult the demanding Morley Hayes Manor Course was playing.
The Derby A team returned a gross score of 316 to beat recently crowned BCS National Champions Balby College – 318 by two strokes.
This result now leaves Derby A in second place behind Balby in the Gross league with one fixture left.
Derby B lead the Net league by 1½ points from Balby A, and look in a good position to win the league in the final fixture and qualify for the National Finals to be played at the prestigious Ganton Golf Club in early May.
Performance Golf Academy Derby programme manager Nigel Furniss commmented: “Some solid performances were the back bone of a great win, defeating the recently crowned National BCS Champions.”
