Sunday saw a contingent of Ripley Running Club members travelling to a very cold and wet Clowne near Chesterfield for the Clowne Half Marathon.
This race was also part of the Derbyshire AAA County Championships so a good performance from Ripley was key.
The course started and finish in Clowne, covering a very undulating route, made so much harder by the cutting cold and high winds on the day for this 13.1 mile race.
Dean Taylor did excellently, coming home in sixth place overall. Not only that, but he ended up in the medals, taking a bronze in the Derbyshire AAA Championships.
In addition, Ripley had two first places in two different age categories. Stephanie Ilsley was first in the Ladies v45 and Eleanor Robinson was first in her v65 category.
There were also four Ripley runners with personal best times, Simon English (1.37.20), Jon Marriot (1.44.21), Cathy Cresswell (1.48.43) and Stevie Thomas (1.50.48). These times and positions were made all the better considering the course and conditions.
Ripley Running Club meets every Tuesday at Ripley Leisure Centre (6.45pm). Runners of all abilities are most welcome.
