Ripley runners reach the peaks

Two Ripley Running Club members, Lucy Taylor and Richard West, completed the Matlock AC-organised White Peak Marathon in 3-22-02 and 3-35-23 respectively.

The race started near Ashbourne and covered the Tissington and High Peak trails,finishing in Cromford.

Five Ripley Runners also took part in the White Peak Half-Marathon, a point-to-point route starting near the end of the High Peak Trail and finishing in Cromford. Many of the Ripley runners achieved personal bests. Rob Coates was the first Ripley runner home in sixth place, finishing in 1-23-21, followed by Simon English in 1-26-46, Greg Bayliss in 1-34-59 and Andy Bradley and Cathy Cresswell in 1-38-32.

Geoff Cooper ran up and down Cader Idris in Wales, finishing 102nd out of 300 runners in 2-03-36 as he climbed almost 3,000ft over 11 miles.

Ian Warton-Woods and Matt Jones competed in the evening Mini Mountain Marathon at Dovedale, a two-hour orienteering-style race. Jones was third in his category with 315 points. Warton-Woods gained 180 points.

Andy Parkin completed the White Peak trail race in third, finishing in just over two hours.
